Dementia in individuals with severe hypercholesterolemia: Korean nationwide cohort study

Abstract Background Dementia risk and benefit of lipid lowering in individuals with severe hypercholesterolemia has not been well studied. The aim this study was to evaluate the dementia effect population using nationwide cohort. Methods This performed National Health Insurance Service database Korea. Among who took health check-up were followed-up, 1,584,401 enrolled analyzed. Study categorized three groups according LDL-C levels, >260, 225–259, 190–224 mg/dL groups, a control group (<160 mg/dL).
